Wondering about all the recent hustle and bustle at 54 Ferry Street? Under the direction of Diane MacLean, the Women of Worth Society has set up shop and are busy planning and fundraising for a whole host of programs and activities.

The Women of Worth Society, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to assisting women through times of crisis, distress or transition by providing support services and programs to effect positive change. Currently, the Society hosts Women for Sobriety meetings every Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 pm and every Thursday from 1 to 2 pm.

According to Women of Worth, “women are the fabric of our society. They give birth, nurture and love, and hold families together. Women are natural born caregivers, but sometimes need help too. At the Women of Worth Society, women from teens to seniors will find a safe, non-threatening community where they can learn from and connect with other women”. Some of the possible future program offerings include: resume writing workshops, holistic therapies, recreation activities, self-esteem workshops, and computer training sessions.

The Society is always looking for new members and volunteers. For more information on membership, volunteer opportunities or any of their planned programs and services e-mailwows@eastlink.ca or call 270-3675.
